Apparently Syracuse Academy of Science (SAS) varsity basketball has passed the test. Three years ago when I covered their inaugural campaign they were winless and at the bottom of their division. I saw them play Onondaga last night and they won 73-63 to maintain their place at the top of the Patriot League division. They have gone from the basement to a serious contender thanks to a blend of speed and inside strength. Lavell Ellick (pictured above) was an original member of the inaugural teamĀ and last night he scored 19 points.
