Saturday, November 26th, 2016During last night’s Jazz @ Sitrus show Will Gorman touched up the keys and sang a Stevie Wonder cover, all while showing off his colorful and crazy socks (sans left shoe). Hopefully, the CNY Jazz Arts alum and Nottingham grad will soon become a brand ambassador for a local design company.

Friday, June 19th, 2015We got to see a few generations of musical performers at Melissa Gardiner’s gig at Tokyo-Seoul last night. Her MG3 band, along with veteran vocalist Ronnie Leigh, made for a sweltering combination.
Leigh, who is the equivalent of a made guy in the music scene here (our version of Tony Bennett), has been around for years and has multiple SAMMY Awards. But don’t let his musical mileage fool you however, because he still had enough in reserve to close the show with a Fats Waller cut (“Aint Misbehavin”) that had the ebbing energy of a strong summer storm.
Our take-away question is this: has anyone recorded these sessions (which began in December)? They would make a great compilation CD.
Jazz, Blues & Beyond
Monday, May 4th, 2015Trombonist Delfeayo Marsalis danced, played, snapped his fingers, and did all he could to create a second-line/Congo Square-type atmosphere in Syracuse on Saturday night. He was the featured guest for the CNY Jazz Sitrus After Hours program at the Sheraton Hotel. We caught a portion of the show. Here are some of the photos.
Happy International Jazz Day

We thought we’d share our first glimpse of the Jazz at the Plaza series, coordinated by the Central New York Jazz Arts Foundation. The turn out on Wednesday was great, but we hope the Le Moyne College location doesn’t replace the usual Jazz in the City block parties.
Jazz Unlimited
Saturday, January 10th, 2015What a way to kick-off 2015’s music season.
Last night’s Jazz at Sitrus event was filled to the brim (restaurant and bar) to take in the musical experience that is Nancy Kelly. Kelly was backed by the usual suspects: Losito (organ), Kelley (drums) and Carello (sax). If this is any indication, the January Jazzfest should be massive. Kelly will be a featured artist at that event, which will be held January 25 in Baldwinsville.
