Tuesday, February 11th, 2020In the current era of 24-hour news cycles and a first-class library at everyone’s fingertips, it’s good to occasionally pause and get a proper perspective. Last night Columbia University Professor and New Yorker writer Jelani Cobb said our political climate has become increasingly filled with pernicious thinking and antagonistic rhetoric. In addition to discussing the advantages and disadvantages of technology as a tool (to organize or to spread disinformation) he gave the SU community a short history lesson to remind us about the founder’s aims and the fragility of consensus.
