The Stallions came up short of winning the TBL Championship this week. Without their big man Jacquil Taylor, who was the Defensive Player of the Year, the squad got swept by the Enid Outlaws 2-0. During the season the Stallions gained the admiration of the fans, the city (including Mayor Walsh), and even the league’s CEO Evelyn Magley (above).
For the first game of the Syracuse University Orangemen 2020 campaign, our player to watch will be opposing sophomore guard Charles Pride, who grew up in Syracuse, playing for CBA and later Liverpool High School. Pride scored in double figures in 12 times as a freshman, including a season-high 25 points against Drexel. Another local star Luke Sutherland, a West Genesee grad, is also on the Bulldog squad.
Stallions guard Brandon Caruthers came off the bench and scored 22 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out six assists. He also had a season-high eight steals in a 136-112 win over the Harlem Underdogs Saturday night.
Guard John Ivy scored 30 points, had six assists, six steals and grabbed five rebounds in last night’s 180-133 victory over the Northeast Enforcers. The Stallions remain unbeaten.
Stallions guard Jimmy Gray, IV had a triple double in last night’s 158-124 victory over The West Chester Wildcats. He had 39 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds and six steals.
