Kenan Thompson, maybe one of the most well adjusted, former child actors still working in the entertainment business gave a presentation at Syracuse University (Family Weekend) on Friday.
Actor Kenan Thompson came to Syracuse University for Parent’s Weekend. He talked about his career from Disney and Nickelodeon days to Good Burger, Fat Albert and his 13 year run with Saturday Night Live. Thompson is the longest tenured African American actor in Saturday Night Live’s history.
Earlier this week Thompson re-united with Kel Mitchell on the Tonight Show for the “Good Burger” sketch.
Taraji P. Henson currently plays Cookie on the Fox-TV drama Empire, which debuted January 7, 2015.
Here are some of the photos from Taraji P. Henson’s visit to Syracuse University. She talked about her work in films and television, particularly the success of her new show Empire and the fortitude it takes to pursue a career in show business. She said she’s had the most fun in her career so far on the film Talk to Me (the Petey Greene biopic). Henson will host Saturday Night Live April 11.
She asked how many students in the audience wanted to run studios (versus merely acting or directing).

Our winters can be long and harsh. Thanks to the No Mercy Step Team for quenching our thirst for innovation and sophistication in the realm of kinesiology during The “Saturday Night Live” Showcase at Syracuse University.
If you are one of those people who says there is nothing going on in Syracuse…we simply are not going to listen to you any more. Period.
Here was one of our favorite scenes from Phi Beta Sigma, Inc.’s Saturday Night Live: Showcase featuring the soulful and jaunty violinist Damien Escobar. His layered riffs definitely excited the crowd on this cover of a Michael Jackson classic.
Can someone please tell us why Yvonne Conte does not have her own television show. Watching her at the TEDxSyracuse University event this week was like seeing Lily Tomlin, Tracey Ullman, or maybe even Tina Fey.
Though she is a public speaker now (and trains others in public speaking), Conte was once a stand-up comic.
From the time she began her talk…well, actually her talk began with a joke about a scheduling mistake…Conte worked the crowd like she was doing a SNL monologue.
Conte talked about the happiness advantage and how it relates to work place enthusiasm, and eventually productivity. She even allotted a portion of her time for the crowd to literally hold their bellies and belt out a laugh.
