Tueday’s best show at the New York State Fair was easily Brandon Ellis Dance Works at the Pan African Village. The one-hour show featured work choreographed by Ellis and Dominique Dawkins that was fluid, innovative, energetic and modern, but with a certain level of sophisticated theater and art synonymous with the top dance companies. From the top (above) are the pieces we experienced: “Cosmic Love,” “Face of Medusa,” and “Beetle Juice.” The group is scheduled to perform at the State Fair again on Thursday.
The Dance Theater of Syracuse performs again at the Pan African Village later today. The piece above was choreographed by Amber Schermerhorn. Below hear a brief except from the Cheryl Wilkins-Mitchell, DTS School Director.
