Gov. Cuomo was even gracious in victory after this morning’s Onondaga Cup. He immediately accepted a rematch next year against the Syracuse Team. The race, which featured local personalities and politicians, served as the kick off for Lake Fest. Cuomo extolled the virtues of the rebirth and renewal of Onondaga Lake.

Team Cuomo, and their boat of outdoor enthusiasts, effortlessly rowed away from Willow Bay to begin the Onondaga Cup.

We’re not sure if there’s a Forman Park Association, but today’s clean up, sponsored by the Syracuse and Central New York Police Retirees Association, would be a great start.
Forman Park, which is bounded on the north by the Crowne Plaza and Parkview Hotels, also contains the Policeman’s Memorial. Forman was re-dedicated last year with a formal ceremony. The park is one of the anchors of the Connective Corridor (phase two).

SU Press recently published a book by environmental activist Dr. K. Animashaun Ducre titled A Place Called Home.
The book examines cycles of disruption and dislocation in Syracuse. It began with a study Dr. Ducre conducted using a blended methodology of photo voice (visual story-telling) and mapping (geographic analysis). Dr. Ducre talks in this interview about the characters in the book (women from Syracuse’s South side) and her efforts to bear witness to social injustice.

Lumhe Micco Sampson, ring dance
Micco Sampson, the son of the late actor and painter Will Sampson (aka the Chief from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest) showed his versatility this weekend at the Blue Rain Eco Fest in Hanover Square. He did a ring dance demonstration on Friday night, and then on Saturday he danced with pop singer Jana during her show.
