Tyler Sullivan (23) of Liverpool was injured during this drive early in the first quarter of the Section III (Class AA) final yesterday. He came back briefly but then sat on the bench for the second half. Bishop Ludden beat Liverpool 49-37.

CBA senior Mark Lutz straddled the baseline and made a reverse layup in the first half of yesterday’s Section III (Class A) final against. Notre Dame. Lutz led all scorers with 22 and CBA won 61-46.

Mika Adams-Woods (#23), aka the one man press-breaker, but on a shooting, dribbling and passing clinic to help hand CBA their first loss of the season.
Last night’s Section III match up between Bishop Ludden and Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) was the perfect crescendo for the Zebra Classic Tournament. It was also a great showcase match sophomore stars Mika Adams-Woods and Charles Pride.
CBA may be the better team (this was their first loss), but after a 37-point, takeover performance, Adams-Woods showed why he may be the regions best talent. His swishing and dishing, his adept ball-handling, and cat-like quickness would have only been more impressive if the superlatives were supplied by Clyde Frazier.
Ludden won 67-58.
CBA will get their chance at revenge when the two teams meet again in February. At that end-of-the-season meeting, the throwback jerseys will be a distant memory.
Guard Mark Lutz finished with 13 points for CBA.
CBA’s super sophmore Charles Pride tried to keep his team close. He finished with 25 points.
Adams-Woods hit five 3-pointers.
The Most Holy Rosary section, pulling for Ludden, celebrated an early first quarter run with a mini chest bump.
CBA’s defense picked up in the fourth, as evidenced by this trap and steal by Pride and Dan Damico (#33).
Adams-Woods was wearing the throwback jersey, but his game was more than modern. The point guard even got a blocked shot in the first half.

Forget what they tell you about the screaming student sections for Bishop Ludden or Christian Brothers Academy, because last night the kids from Most Holy Rosary (who were represented by Ludden for the Throwback Finale) made just as much noise and made an even better impression.

Lafayette senior guard Ryan Agedal shoots a technical free throw in the second half of Saturday’s Zebra Classic Throwback Contest vs. Fabius-Pompey. Lafayette won 59-49.
Four teams wore the throwback jerseys for two of the five contests for last night’s 30th Zebra Classic, which was held at Onondaga Community College. For the fourth game, Lafayette represented St. Lucy’s and Fabius-Pompey represented St. John The Evangelist from the old Syracuse Parochial League. We heard the players get to keep the old school jerseys. The Tournament was sponsored by Pathfinder Bank.
