Here are some more photographs from Wednesdays on Walton (WOW). The square was filled with the sounds of zydeco and the flavor of Mardi Gras last week.  And true to the spirit of New Orleans, it even brought out strolling musicians such as David Corcoran (see below).

Joe Driscoll and Travie McCoy in Armory Square a decade ago

Joe Driscoll and Travie McCoy performed in Armory Square a decade ago

Hard to believe by Joe Driscoll and Travie McCoy (and Gym Class Heroes) were opening acts for a show back in the day at an Armory Square club. I can’t remember who the headliner was,but Driscoll has gone on to become an international sensation; and McCoy now performs on television award shows.

Driscoll is in town this weekend for his only US show this summer.

John Bixler as Macbeth

John Bixler as Macbeth

The Redhouse kicked off their summer season by staging  a lively performance of Macbeth in Armory Square last night.  The show drew an audience of about 100 (of all ages) if you include downtown residents watching from above the square.

Upcoming performances of Macbeth, which are free,  will be held in Liverpool and Dewitt.

LOFO Cafe/Bistro: Inside Out

LOFO Cafe/Bistro: Inside Out

A few months ago I ventured into Armory Square to revisit Om Boys Juice Bar, only to find it had closed. New owners were onsite and explained their concept.  I was skeptical and went for a smoothie.

Fast forward and (after numerous meals) LOFO, to me, may be the most underrated place in the city for flexitarian food.  Reminds me of a cross between a place in NYC that was called Pump and Juicy Lucy’s in San Francisco.

LOFO is definitely a great addition to Syracuse dining. I’m glad I stumbled upon it.

West Fayette Street (Rush Hour)

West Fayette Street (Rush Hour) Tuesday

Here’s an interesting question overheard along the Connective Corridor: If downtown traffic congestion at rush hour for the past few months has been moderate to severe (690 on ramp construction), what would it look like if they tore down Route I81?
