Dave Solazzo
Lemon Elefant features a new generation of jazz cats putting in work in-and-around Syracuse. The band is headed by Bill Horrace and Dave Solazzo, who have been fixtures for the past year or so at Connective Corridor music spots (teaming up with various musicians from the area). Last Friday Lemon Elefant was the closing act for Sitrus on the Hill, where they played their original cuts, as well as some pop tunes.

Another bright spot in the Syracuse music scene was the return of the Jazz at Sitrus series, which is held at the Sheraton Hotel, along the Connective Corridor. Here are some of the performers from 2012.

At the Sitrus on the Hill last night vocalist Cookie Coogan did a medley of songs with her trio (featuring Rick Balestra and Darryl Pugh) that included September in the Rain, September Song and It’s You I Like (composed by Fred ( aka Mr.) Rogers.
The lively informal jam session was the perfect way to officially end the summer.

Syracuse vocal duo Michael (Houston) and Anjela Lynn belted out a litany of soul classic and R&B hits at the Sheraton Hotel’s Sitrus Lounge on Friday. MichaelAnjelalynn (as they are known) were joined on stage by the Bowen Brothers: Deyquan and John II.
