We interviewed Hall of Fame NBA guard and SU alum Dave Bing last week about the shooting prowess of retired player Phil Chenier. Chenier will have his number retired by the Wizards this season.
It was announced that SAS point guard Symir Torrence will be headed to Vermont Academy. He averaged over 20 ppg, 7 rebounds and 6 assists this past season.
This week Mika Adams-Woods, guard at Bishop Ludden High, announced that he will attend New Hampton Prep.

Justin Reyes was named Most Outstanding Player for the NCAA Div. II East Region after Wednesday’s 26 point, 13 rebound performance. He also had 4 blocks.
St. Thomas Aquinas (STAC) outlasted a formidable College of St. Rose team 69-66.
STAC moves on to play South Dakota next week.

Due to inclement weather, the NCAA Div. II Regional Final game between St. Thomas Aquinas College and College of St. Rose was moved to Wednesday at 2 pm.

The NCAA Div. II East Regional held at Lemoyne for the past few days has featured some spectacular basketball games. We are not sure if it was underappreciated, but we will say that more promotion was needed. It was a great venue for kids, families, fans and coaches. The good news is this: you still have a chance to check it out.
Tonight St. Thomas Aquinas College will do battle with College of St. Rose to determine the championship of the East Region. One key match up will be between Justin Reyes and Tyler Sayre. At some point these two MVP’s for their respective clubs will meet either in the paint or on the wing.

Le Moyne head basketball coach Patrick Beilein (above) played for his father John at West Virginia University. John Beilein is currently head coach at the University of Michigan, but from 1983-92 he was Le Moyne’s head coach. Patrick had a 22-7 record with Le Moyne this year.
