Rosie Perez, actress
They say Father Time is undefeated…and if he is, then one person giving him a run for his money is actress Rosie Perez. Perez continues to age gracefully, 25 years after dancing onto the scene in the Spike Lee summer joint Do The Right Thing (easily one of the most audacious acting debuts ever, second only to Eddie Murphy in 48 hours)
Perez, who is a fight fan, was in the area recently to visit the International Boxing Hall of Fame.

Jack Brown, keeping it real (cool)
Hollywood has Jack Black; Syracuse has Jack Brown (of Sophistafunk). Black is known for his fluffy comedic persona; meanwhile Brown is known as a vigorous MC who dons stylish pork pie hats on stage. Last weekend, Brown mixed up his fashion ensemble by rocking a pair of classic NIKE dunks (in Syracuse Orange, of course).

Chris Taylor on the Delta Stage at The Taste of Syracuse on Saturday night.
Sammy-award winner Chris Taylor, the man with the coolest microphone this side of Paisley Park, brought some country to the city for the Taste of Syracuse on Saturday night (backed by The Custom Taylor Band). What is always amazing is to see a cool brother wearing jeans and a t-shirt, cowboy hat and boots (custom belt buckle too), serve up a country groove that has the crowds eating out of his hands. Taylor is definitely a local music and fashion icon.

Comic Richie Redding kept the Funny Bone audience in stitches as he touched on current topics, this that and the third.
On our first visit to the Syracuse Funny Bone Comedy Club we were pleased to meet NYC comic Richie Redding. Don’t let his Ivy League education fool you, this ten-plus year comedy vet can write a joke that will make you bust your gut. From his intro shout-out for Butternut Street to subjects such as PMS and music downloads, Redding kept the audience and servers howling with laughter.
Redding was preceded on stage by Dan Frigolette and host Anna Phillips. He will return to NYC for some gigs before heading out to shows in Arizona.
Hopefully he can return soon to Syracuse. For now, most people who saw Redding’s act on Thursday will never look at their thumbs the same again.
To see a previous interview we did with Frigolette, click here. To see a review of a performance by Anna Phillips last year, click here.
Dan Frigolette used a zany prop during his show, but it is not included in this photograph.
