Jeff and Gina Rivers aboard the Mystère

Jeff and Gina Rivers aboard the Mystère

A special thanks to Gina and Jeff Rivers for inviting us to join them on the Soul food Sunday on the Lake cruise.  Gina has been an advisor to SIF since our launch, and her husband Jeff was the event caterer.

The cruise departed from the Port of Brewerton and traveled along the Oneida River. The company, conversation, scenery and food were all wonderful.

Earlier this month I covered the Syracuse University VPA School of Design Senior Fashion show in New York City. The show was held at the JP Morgan Building on the 50th Floor above Park Avenue.

Following the show designer Henry Grethel was presented with the Icon of Style Award and he said orange has become the new black for Manhattanites with connections to Syracuse University and SU Athletics.

A Tour of Bayside Offerings

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

First, I was impressed with Baltimore’s Aquarium, then more so by Seattle’s; and then I was sure the Monterey Bay Aquarium was the pinnacle. But recently I visited the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, and it became my new favorite.  I also heard there may be a better aquarium in Europe.

For the price (free) however, I also thought the Aquarium at Santa Monica Pier was also nice. It’s more geared toward school-kids and does a good job tackling conservation and water quality.
