The Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium was set up for a fashion show Friday night.

The Joyce Hergenhan Auditorium may be the most flexible interior space in the city. We’ve seen it used for class lectures, film screenings, music concerts, and next week it will be the site for TEDx Syracuse University. Last night the venue was adapted for the 2014 Fashion and Beauty Communications Milestone Fashion Show.

Wonder if anyone has used it for a wedding ceremony yet?

The latest Social Media Breakfast (#SMB) was held at the Syracuse Media Group Headquarters last week. Panelists included Kim Brown (SU), Teri Weaver (Syracuse.com), Dan Pacheco (SU) and Tim Robertson (Time Warner Cable). The nearly hour discussion focused on journalism trends, open and closed networks, generating content, page views for pay, social media vs. legacy media, and the pending death of the traditional press release.

Due to time constraints Pacheco, who also did some ground-breaking work with drone technology at Syracuse University, didn’t get to talk about Google Glass with the group.

Sometimes the best part of a conference is at the edges, in-between the forums and formal program. Yesterday during the lunch break of the Cold Case Justice Initiative’s Looking Back, Moving Forward: 50th Anniversary Conference a rich meaningful and dialogue broke-out. This multi-generational instructional chat featured students, educators, panel participants and attorneys.  It was preceded by a lunchtime story-telling piece by Vanessa Johnson.

And truth be told, the conversation was sparked by a challenge laid down by Mr. Gil Caldwell.
