Opening Day Hat

Opening Day Hat

Opening day for the Syracuse Chiefs was full of energy,  excitement, and possibilities despite the loss to 4-1 loss to Scranton/Wilkes Barre. The long lines and carnival atmosphere almost made you forget it was a chilly 48 degrees on Thursday.

The new management has made an concerted effort to bring some excitement to Triple-A baseball here in the city. We hope it lasts.

JS: Mr. Excitement

Chiefs New GM Jason Smorol was full of passion and enthusiasm during his pre-game remarks.

Biscuits Heads on Opening Day

Style Award: Biscuit Heads on Opening Day

Dale and Marion Ladd of Central Square showed up at NBT Bank Stadium today to support Billy Gardner, Jr.  Gardner was making his debut as a  Triple-A manager for the Syracuse Chiefs.

The biscuit hats, according to Marion (whose family is from down South) were a shout out to Gardner’s former team, the Montgomery Biscuits.  While with Montgomery in 2012, Gardner was the Southern League’s Manager of the Year.
