(A conversation with pictures)

I love sculpture. In painting I don’t always know where I’m going, but with sculpture I have an image in my head I try to follow.

In fact…let’s go upstairs. I’ve had this space for almost 15 years. I’m sad to leave it in some ways because I’m not sure where I can put all this work if I don’t sell it. I don’t know what to do with it all. I contacted all my family and said listen you guys are going to be getting all kinds of work, even if you don’t like it, at least you can cover holes in the walls.  I call this one “Embrace” (above) and when it grabs you it won’t be letting go.

This is are larger version of the invitation, but I’ve been so busy going back and forth getting everything organized that I haven’t had time to get it together. I wanted to have it finished for the show, but I’m not going to worry about it. When all this is over, I’ll come back up here and finish it. If not, I’ll take it with me to Puerto Rico.

I plan to retire. That’s the whole idea for having the show. I’m selling my house and going back to Cataño. My family is still there, but I plan to go into the mountains because it’s cooler. They say all year around it’s 74 degrees. Can you imagine that everyday?  I can paint, I can do sculpture and there'll be snow.
